Work, bills, clothes

A long entry…finally!
My summer vacation is practically over, and I do not feel like going back to work. At all! Frederick will be going to daycare on Monday and doesn’t really seem to be anticipating his return. I ask him if he wants to go to daycare, and he tells me that he doesn’t want to go. I ask, “Do you want to go to school?” He replies with an excited yes and begins telling me about school buses, which he loves. I hope that he will enjoy daycare once they begin with their daily lessons, but that won’t be until the 7th. I need to send him to daycare early because I need to plan many lessons for school. I am determined to have every sheet for about the first two weeks ready because I do not want to waste time on that after school. I still remember my struggles during my first two months at the job. I am determined to not spend so much time on work after school and spend my time with Fred and Frederick instead. I have really enjoyed my stay at home and wish that it could be longer. But yea, all good things must come to an end.

Back to my not wanting to go back to work: I really enjoy teaching ELA, but the students just don’t behave. I have nightmares about having a terrible year with bad kids. I had a lot of kids that were incredibly mean and plain rude. They would tell you what they wanted to tell you without even considering what was coming out of their mouths. I feel as though I didn’t even teach some of them anything simply because the other kids wouldn’t allow me to teach. It is ridiculous, but we actually need about four pages worth of rules and procedures, everything ranging from when to stand up and when to speak. These are freshman for God’s sake, but yea, they really need to know every procedure. If I can get my classroom behavior in better control this year then maybe I will have an enjoyable year. Maybe. I love what I teach and don’t mind creating most lessons on my own, but misbehavior is really turning me off from going back. Oh well…wish me luck.

Anyway, today I get paid. Not a big “yay” for me since I owe more than what I get paid, and Fred hasn’t been working very much. I don’t even know how we get by at times, seriously. I will be done with the sofas in September so that is great, but now I also need pest control every three months, another $80. I also need the damn home phone for the alarm system and for stupid slow-ass dialup. They still haven’t been able to get cable here, which doesn’t matter, since I probably won’t be able to afford it anyways. Let me see, yea the house is $1000 + and the light bill continues increasing.

Oh another sucky thing to add: INSURANCE. Our school had to change insurance because of a 26% increase to the other one that I was perfectly happy with. Now I am expecting a call from another outside of work insurance that will lower my insurance costs by about $100. Woo-hoo. I already pay about $300 a month on the basic cheapy plan. That is mostly for Frederick because it would have been around $15 for me. Anyways, I hope that this plan works out well because I have to see the derm again in about a month and need to keep up with the dentist, now that I finally went.

Some good news is that I finally get the $300 deducted from my paycheck every month in August. I will finally be done with paying ACT the $3000 for help with my internship and certification. They were great and allowed me to get completely certified, but damn I need that money. It will be a big help but a lot of it will probably go to taxes. Bummer. Hmm…why do I seem so negative now?!?

Fred’s parents gave us a TV, which is great because that is something that we can’t afford to buy anytime soon. We hardly ever use it, but Frederick is the one who watches some Elmo and Thomas Train stuff on it. I simply have NO TIME in my life for TV, something that my students do not believe. It’s so weird, but we just don’t have time. Any time that I do have I spend reading. I love to read and have read about six books in about two weeks. I am about to finish the Harry Potter series and want to finish the Series of Unfortunate Events series soon. Frederick is taking up an interest in books again, which I am glad for since he spends a lot of his time with his trains.

Speaking of trains, that is mostly what he wants for his birthday. He is adorable. When you ask him what he wants for his birthday he simply states, “Pizza, cake, balloons.” In that order. Can’t get cuter than that. I hope that we (or I actually) have enough money for a decent meal and gifts for his b-day. I plan on getting him a Thomas cake, pizza at Peter Piper, and a couple of balloons. I am also debating whether to dress him up in Thomas clothes for his pic or not. I am thinking of dressing him in just nice clothes for the pic and Thomas stuff for his party. Well for gifts I am planning on: Thomas Railway Rhymes book, Thomas and Percy trains, and other goodies. He has a lot of clothes that I just bought him at JC Penney and Wal-Mart, so I probably wont’ be getting him many gifts. I also bought him tons of books online and at Barnes and Noble. I just hope that he has an enjoyable b-day with Thomas and Friends. Ha-ha.

I will go and shop for whatever items I can afford for back-to-school. I have been having trouble finding clothes because I have gained a bit of weight and now I am too short for bigger sizes. It is driving me insane. Jeans are too small, but I look pathetically skinny in dressy work pants, which piss me off. I hate to look like a stick. Ugghh! I need a pair of black sandals and pair of brown ones, around 3-4 pants, and some under garments. I have enough new shirts, so easy to find, but will probably buy more. I get my $500 for New Jersey Training today as well, the reason I am able to shop today.

Our day will probably consist of: Lunch, make house payment, dollar movie (Frederick is now behaving at movies. We are thrilled.), Mall (while Fred takes Frederick to Barnes and Noble), other stores (maybe Target, Mervyns, etc), Dinner, and ride home, with some Starbucks in between.

I hope that our day will be great and that I will actually find clothes. There is no way that I will wait until Tax-free weekend when stores will be packed and clothes will be on floors.

that was then || this is now
